Control of invasive species

biobureau_atuacao_nova

The biggest threat to biodiversity is not pollution or climate change, but invasive species. Currently, the global cost of fighting them is estimated at 5% of the world’s GDP.

In Brazil, IBAMA keeps a list of all documented invasive species. The 3 main ones, for which national control programs have been set up, are the golden mussel, the sun coral and the java pig.
