MSc and PhD in Genetics and Biotechnology
I have a degree in Biological Sciences and a master’s and doctorate in Genetics and Biotechnology. Curiosity has always driven me, ever since I was a child. I like to study and understand how things work. Being born and raised in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, made me want to work to protect nature. My goal in life is to work to make the world a better, sustainable place, a society in harmony with nature.
I see biotechnology as a way of optimizing processes and making them more sustainable. In addition, biotechnology has a set of tools that allow us to manipulate organisms in order to optimize the production of food, medicines or modify characteristics of interest.
I’ve been part of the Bio Bureau for four years and now I have a little piece of it. I became a partner this year. I worked on the sequencing of the sun coral genome. I am currently involved in implementing the use of environmental DNA for species identification, which contributes to biodiversity conservation and management. Also in the development of a biotechnological control strategy for the golden mussel, as part of the synthetic biology team.
I love animals, especially dogs. I’m a strict vegetarian, an activist for the cause. In my spare time I like to read, walk and get to know other cultures.
