Peixes livres
Com o controle do invasor, os pescadores não precisam de tanques ou redes extras para a aquicultura. Eles as utilizam uma vez por mês, enquanto limpavam os tanques dos mexilhões. Tão pouco sofrem com o cheiro terrível da decomposição dos mexilhões retirados das redes e deixados ao relento. Também economizam em ração, o peixe cresce mais e chega ao mercado melhor, enquanto menos matéria orgânica contamina o reservatório.

da infestação é feito pelo PCR de larvas, em sondas no próprio reservatório, em tempo real. Elas também são capazes de avaliar presença de mais de 96 espécies da biodiversidade aquática, entre bentos, plâncton e necton. Graças as pesquisas que foram feitas anos antes com o P&D ANEEL. Um pré tratamento do reservatório e de instalações industriais com pesticidas micro encapsulados fez com que o tempo necessário para controlar a população com gene-drive tenha sido reduzido de 20 para 2 anos. Apesar de ter começado após o desenvolvimento do mosquito da malária, o mexilhão acabou se tornando o primeiro organismo a ser liberado para controle de uma espécie invasora no ambiente.
