Bio Bureau Biotecnologia was founded in 2009 by scientist Mauro Rebelo to take technologies developed at the ‘bench to the market’, motivated by a lecture by the then Minister of Science and Technology S\u00e9rgio Rezende, in which he promoted the ministry’s programs for the recently regulated Innovation Law, <\/span><\/p>\n The company was soon selected for the program First Innovative Company – PRIME from FINEP<\/a>signed a technical and scientific cooperation agreement with the Environmental Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Biophysics Institute of UFRJ and jointly deposited with the university the patent for a genetically modified bacterium for bioremediation and biomining<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2014, the company received angel investment and professionalized its management, transforming itself into a research and development company for biotechnology-based products and services that contribute to sustainable development, the bioeconomy and the UN’s sustainability goals<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bio Bureau has an international team of scientists (masters and doctors) with expertise in sequencing and editing genes and genomes, we apply<\/span> genetic engineering to create genetically modified organisms that contribute to improving the environment and quality of life. In 2020, in order to protect itself from the impacts of the pandemic, understanding that its main asset is its human capital, and aiming to preserve it, the company made the bold decision to offer this technical staff to society. <\/span><\/p>\n The company has received innovation awards from FIRJAN (2015)<\/a>, AHK and Bayer (2016)<\/a> and the Brazilian Bioinnovation Association (2019<\/a> ) and made it into the top 10 biotech startups ranking of 100 Open Startups (2021).<\/p>\n
